Maintaining Your Reclaimed Teak Furniture
Using reclaimed teak indoors creates a special look, and results in virtually non-existent care requirements to keep it looking amazing. Reclaimed teak is also a great product for outdoor environments, especially combined with our outdoor hardware. Reclaimed teak is wood that has lived another life. The teak used in construction for reclaimed pieces comes from colonial buildings, old railroads, and barns. Cracking/splintering and other imperfections are to be expected. Items may also include nails, patches, and screw holes, fills may eventually raise to the surface. Reclaimed teak is a perfect fit for those who enjoy that distressed aesthetic. It is that rustic character that makes every reclaimed piece unique.
Maintenance & Care for Reclaimed Teak:
- Clean with a mild soap (We recommend Simple Green Marine Solution, diluted as directed) and warm water, using either a gentle-bristle brush, sponge, or cloth.
- Follow with a rinse of clean water and leave to air dry.
- To remove any loose grime on a daily basis, use a soft, dry household brush.

Natural environmental exposure will eventually lead to that gorgeous patina that many have fallen in love with throughout the ages. Periodic cleaning is recommended for soiled reclaimed teak. Generally speaking, reclaimed teak is known to take on a beautiful natural patina that is a silver color. Gently cleaning the teak (as instructed) will not drastically affect the patina. Teak wood can last a century or more if cared for properly.
